1. Alaska Republican leaders are hopeful Tuesday's election wins will create more opportunity for oil drilling and other development on Alaska’s federal lands.
2. Two University of Alaska Fairbanks professors of political science say passage of Ballot Measure 2 likely would further polarize Alaska politics.
3. Democratic state Senator Scott Kawasaki is hanging on to a sliver of a lead over Republican challenger Leslie Hadjukovich in the Fairbanks-area Senate District P race.
4. Alaska will have five new air-cargo carriers flying into the state soon, and they’ll land mostly at the Anchorage airport. But cargo-handling has increased at the Fairbanks airport as well.
